Day 3 (10 June 2018) Nagrota (Jammu) via Srinagar to Sonamarg(Kashmir) Distance (344)
We left at early in the morning 5 AM for Srinagar. We went through tunnels and hilly roads. Roads were in bad condition as some kind of construction is going on. Jammu is very hot like Punjab and Delhi. We have experience the 17 KM long tunnel "Chenani Tunnel". It took approx 20-25 mins to cross this tunnel. It was a great experience. after this tunnel we also crossed the old "Jawahar Tunnel".
While approaching to Anantnag we saw a strange thing in the way. One big bull was laid dead with both of his hind legs tugged with rope and tree. It was very terrifying and shocking. After Anantnag you will be see military units moving all the way. Bomb squad team were looking for any kind of unwanted things and others were looking up at mountains for safety.
Once you are on Srinagar high way it has all different world. from hilly roads
you suddenly face big 4 lane roads with valleys . it was great experience of
that roads. There are fields all the way around. Awesome air, cleanness, great
weather, Cricket bat factories all around. Be careful by the shop kippers at
the starting of Srinagar road. Their price are very high at first, do great bargaining
with them they will end up 80% less price. Get your tank filled from petrol
stations from Srinagar town. I guess you can use your credit car as they have
swipe machines. Srinagar is great town.
Take the route that went through the
Srinagar town to see the Dal Lake. Dal Lake has awesome view all around. You
can take boat ride there. Must have ice cream at Dal Lake side. After spending
some time left the Sonamerg. Srinagar to Sonamerg ways are really very scenic.

Big canal along with the way straight roads packed with mountains and greenery.
Cold winds and pretty weather. Sonmerg is really haven and heart of the
Kashmir. Sonmerg it hill destination. There is big glacier in Sonmerg near town
and small market is there and hotel. We stayed at Sonmerg hotel. Hotels are
cheap here and food too. We rent hotel for 3 persons only in 600 and it has all
facilities and washroom, hot water 24 hr and TV. Food was
very tasty here. Asesome view from hotel. Big green mountains and it was cloudy
and little rain I can't explain. You can find the J&K bank ATM here that has money so you can take the money from here.
The road condition is flawless.
